He wasn’t happier than ever.
Mark Zuckerberg reportedly refused to clap after Billie Eilish called out the billionaire class during her speech at the Wall Street Journal Magazine Innovator Awards on Wednesday night.
“We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country,” the “Bad Guy” singer, 23, said while accepting the Music Innovator Award.
“I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it,” she added during the star-studded event.
But Eilish didn’t stop there. She went on to call out several of the richest people in attendance at this year’s ceremony, which took place at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
“Love you all, but there’s a few people in here that have a lot more money than me,” the “Birds of a Feather” hitmaker continued.
“If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?” she concluded her speech. “No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties.”
While Eilish’s final remarks were said to be met with laughter and applause from the audience, not everyone at the event was impressed by the Grammy winner’s comments.
Zuckerberg, however, reportedly did not clap for the “Lovely” singer, an attendee told People.

The 41-year-old Facebook founder, meanwhile, is currently the third richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $257 billion, per Forbes. He was in attendance at the awards to support his wife, Priscilla Chan, as she was recognized as a 2025 WSJ Magazine Innovator.
Chan, 40, was honored for her work with the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a philanthropic organization the couple founded in 2015 that addresses societal challenges and works to cure, prevent, or manage diseases.
A WSJ profile of Chan published ahead of Wednesday night’s award ceremony mentioned that the billionaire couple has pledged to give away a whopping 99% of their Meta shares to help the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative throughout their lives.
As for Eilish, she donated millions of dollars of her own shortly before giving her controversial acceptance speech at the celebrity-filled ceremony.
Stephen Colbert, who hosted this year’s WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards, revealed that the Oscar winner donated more than $11 million from her recent tour to several different causes.
“I also have the privilege of breaking a little news tonight,” Colbert, 61, shared. “Thank you, Billie, for allowing me to do this. It’s extraordinary.”
“Billie Eilish will be donating proceeds from her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour to support organizations, projects, and voices dedicated to food equity, climate justice, reducing carbon pollution, and combating the climate crisis,” he continued.
“That donation, ladies and gentlemen, will be $11.5 million,” the late-night host concluded the announcement. “That’s wonderful. Billie, on behalf of humans everywhere, thank you.”
The WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards are held every year and recognize “leaders across industries who are changing the game,” per the outlet, with categories that usually include fashion, art, music, beauty, film and philanthropy.
Besides Eilish, Zuckerberg and Chan, the night also featured billionaires George Lucas and Tory Burch, and fellow stars such as Chris Rock, Hailey Bieber, Ben Stiller, and Karlie Kloss.
