The horrifying moment a woman bit into a wedge of raw chicken disguised inside a McDonald’s burger has been revealed.
TikTok user Maddie treated herself on Friday to a Caesar Chicken McWrap from the Armadale outlet, southeast of Perth — and quickly regretted her choice.
She took one bite before taking a closer look inside the wrap and realizing its “crispy” coating was covering an entirely raw breast.
“The chicken’s raw. I bit it. That’s not even tried to be cooked. I’m not a complainer. It’s f**king raw, I’m going to get salmonella,” she said in a video.
Maddie showed the pale pink chicken mixed in with the rest of the ingredients before revealing on Sunday she had been feeling unwell since eating it.
“I think I have salmonella, I’m so unwell. I’ve been in bed all day [feeling] dizzy and [having a] headache, and the rest of it,” she said.
“If you haven’t seen the chicken, go have a look because it is so disgusting. Even thinking about it now is making me feel so sick.”
She said she called the store to complain and was told to send an email if she wished to take the matter further. McDonald’s then told her it would get back to her in 10 days.
Viewers of her video described her experience as “diabolical” and encouraged her to continue pressing McDonald’s for answers.
“That is legit diabolical. I wish you well,” one person responded.
“I WOULD CRY,” another said.
“What. How is this even possible? They have timers for everything,” someone else wrote.
McDonald’s said it was investigating the incident, which it believed to be isolated.
“McDonald’s takes food safety extremely seriously and follows strict processes to ensure the quality of our food,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.
“We can confirm McDonald’s Armadale received a complaint regarding an undercooked chicken wrap on Friday, 14 July. We treat complaints of this nature very seriously and immediately investigated the claim.
“We believe this is an isolated incident and haven’t received any further complaints. We have apologized to the customer and offered a full refund.
“We will continue to work with the restaurant on the necessary actions.”
The incident came after a Queensland woman earlier this month revealed she was served a Sausage and Egg McMuffin with a glove baked into the bread.
Images of the bright green item poking through the bread where the customer had taken a bite.
She too was told McDonald’s would get back to her in 10 days, but she told news.com.au on Monday the fast food giant claimed it was “still investigating with the manufacturer.”
“I am so angry and frustrated beyond belief. I have had pain in my tummy since it happened. I know it’s probably not from that but my mind tells me it is,” the customer said.
She was upset no one from the retailer had asked if she was OK or suggested that she seek medical attention.
“I am angry they have seemingly ignored and dismissed it and I’m scared of the plastic consequences,” she said.
