My boyfriend dumped me over my male best friend — haters say he was right

Messy bestie love bit this Big Apple belle in the bum.

A New York woman was kicked to the curb by her new boyfriend after she unabashedly professed her “so bad” love for her male best friend — and the relationship ruckus has social media more divided than a broken heart.

“I got broken up with because I posted [a video of me and my guy best friend] to my [Instagram] story,” Liana, 25, a podcaster, vented in a trending tell-all.

In the controversial clip — which has stockpiled over 634,000 TikTok views and a staggering 24.5 million Twitter clicks  — the brown-haired honey shared a snippet of the footage that ultimately rendered her single.

The video featured her unnamed bosom buddy of six years cooling her off with a handheld fan at a concert. Liana captioned the post of her helpful pal: “Love him so bad.”

But the heartfelt confession made her boyfriend so mad

“After I posted that story, he was so annoyed with me,” she said of her ex, noting, however, that they’d only dated for less than a month.

“He basically told me that he doesn’t do guy best friends with girls that he’s speaking to,” Liana continued. “And that if he’s pursuing someone, he just doesn’t really respect the fact that I have a male in my life that I love real bad.”

And despite her best efforts at emphasizing the platonic nature of their friendship, Liana’s sweetheart went totally sour.

“This guy was serious,” she explained to her nearly 15,000 TikTok followers. “He was not letting up on this boundary that he had in place…He cut me off.”

Liana added, “But now, I’m just sitting here like, Damn! Was it really that deep?,” questioning whether her ex’s reaction was justified.

And social media savages ferociously responded in a wave of mixed reactions.

“She’s definitely f- -king him,” accused one TikTok user, in part, suggesting that Liana and her bestie were secretly getting busy behind her boyfriend’s back.

“Happy that king respected himself and his own boundaries,” cheered another supporter of her ex.

“If your girl got a male bestie, leave her a- – if she can’t leave him. There’s always something [between them],” a Twitter skeptic advised.

Criticisms from naysayers notwithstanding, a handful of open-minded audience members backed Liana, assuring her that there’s no shame in having deep love for a chum of the opposite sex.

“I have a male best friend and I promise you it’s not that serious,” penned a digital defender of Liana’s position.

“He’s insecure and you dodged a bullet. He knew [you] for 3 weeks and wanted u to drop someone u known for 6 years. Crazy,” said another, calling her ex’s mental stability into question.

“He clearly has issues that I’m glad he chose to work on alone once your outing triggered him. But you didn’t do anything wrong,” another chimed.

Some folks, however, couldn’t take a firm position on the bestie bedlam.

“I loved my guy best friend real bad also, in just a platonic way, 10 years later we dated, now we’re engaged to be married lol!,” a woman confessed. “So I get both sides!!”

The debate over dating while having a best friend of another gender is constantly bubbling over online.

In June, cyber cynics told a “delusional” 21-year-old that her boyfriend’s penchant for flirtatiously roughhousing with her female best friend was a recipe for romantic disaster. And in March 2022, a best man at a wedding went viral after stealing his best friend’s bride away shortly after they said: “I Do.”

And in Liana’s case, she’s completely unfazed by the impact that her best male mate may have on her romantic life in the future.

When told by a hateful hound, in part, “If you have a male [best friend] you’re for the streets,” the unbothered bombshell slickly replied, “We don’t care.”
