New Yorkers have a reputation — and it typically has nothing to do with being overly nice.
But a British transplant is now virally claiming that folks in the Big Apple are as sweet as pie compared to Londoners, who she deemed as “horrible people.”
“People are friendly here,” said an unnamed woman from London, who was randomly asked to share her thoughts on the differences between her home city and New York City while strolling through Central Park.
Her trending remarks on the topic were shared by TikToker @ArtInThePark, and scared up a whopping 896,000 views.
When told that most Americans believe that New Yorkers are “rude,” the shocked Brit said: “Oh, dear God, no. Londoners are so terrible, and I can say that, I’ve lived there my entire life.”
“We’re horrible people,” she continued, adding that she’d find it “quite disorienting” if a stranger from her motherland ever tried to strike up a conversation on the street.
“Everyone’s just like, ‘Don’t f – – kin’ look at me, Jesus,’ ” she said.
And online onlookers chimed in with their two cents on people from the two cities.
“London people and English are just more reserved. It comes off as unfriendly. But it’s just their culture,” penned a commentator.
“As a Londoner, I find New Yorkers quite friendly,” agreed another.
“Compared to Americans, New Yorkers are not friendly. But compared to the rest of the world, New Yorkers are friendly,” another said.
According to a 2020 ranking of the friendliest states in America, Minnesota earned the No. 1 spot.
New York, however, came in last out of all 50 states.
