These were some unwelcome wedding crashers.
A marriage ceremony was rudely interrupted by a bear mauling a moose on a nearby river bank — and the grizzly scene was all caught on camera.
Two lovebirds were in the middle of saying “I do” in August when the vicious attack took place. The wedding videographer posted the ordeal on TikTok this month with the caption, “When a bear kills a moose during your wedding.”
Stanton Giles, the Colorado filmmaker, racked up 1.7 million views on the video, which shows the shocked newlyweds gasping at the scene as the wedding halts suddenly. In the background, the moose appears to be in distress as it thrashes about in the water.
Giles also took to YouTube to detail the horrifying experience, calling it “crazy” in a video that racked up 2,200 likes.
“Since I became a videographer, I’ve seen some pretty crazy things and been to some really cool places, but none of that is as crazy as when I saw a grizzly bear kill a moose during a wedding,” Giles stated in the video.
“The grizzly bear chased the moose off the mountain and down onto the shore of the lake while the groom was reading his vows,” he recalled as an array of violin strings played in the background of the video.
Torn between his National Geographic filmmaking side and his duties as a wedding videographer, he held the camera on the groom during the vows until the rest of the wedding party noticed what was happening across the lake.
“You can’t deny how crazy it is to see something this crazy in nature, much less at a wedding,” he continued in the clip. “And it definitely gives new meaning to the wedding phrase ‘bear witness.’”
Viewers on TikTok were shocked and horrified — but it didn’t stop them from cracking a few jokes.
“That’s a grizzly start to the marriage,” one user quipped.
“When the ring bear doesn’t wait till the reception to eat,” cracked another.
“Ring bear took his job to seriously,” joked someone else.
“‘I want a wedding in nature…’ *gets shocked when nature keeps it real*,” another viewer wrote.
“Nahh you scheduled a wedding during dinner,” wrote someone else.
“Well if the universe ever gave someone a sign this would be it,” commented another user.
