‘Pommel Horse Guy’ Stephen Nedoroscik joins ‘DWTS’ Season 33 after Paris Olympics

From Paris to the ballroom.

Stephen Nedoroscik, known as “Pommel Horse Guy” following his historic performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is joining the cast of “Dancing With the Stars” Season 33.

The 25-year-old gymnast appeared on “Good Morning America” Thursday to share the news.

Nedoroscik is “hoping” to bring some of his pommel horse moves to the ABC competition series.

“I want to do some flairs. I want to brings some of that gymnastics. Maybe a back flip or a handstand. I wanna have fun with it,” he said.

Nedoroscik was also asked if he plans to dance with his glasses on.

“I might have fun with it,” he said. “I’m scared they’ll fly off is the thing. Maybe we can do a gadget to keep them on. Maybe a new pair of glasses to match the theme. That’s what I’m thinking. That would be awesome.”

The Olympian immediately said yes to doing the show when he was called.

“I’m very excited,” he added.

Nedoroscik is the first celebrity announced on the “DWTS” Season 33 cast. The rest of the competitors will be announced live on “GMA” on Sept. 4.

The new season will be hosted by Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro. Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli are back as judges.

Nedoroscik is the first male gymnast to appear on “DWTS.” Female gymansts who have been on the show include Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Suni Lee, Shawn Johnson and Mary Lou Retton.

Nedoroscik became a national hero at the Olympics when he completed an incredible pommel horse routine in the team final for USA, earning a score of 14.866.

His impressive showing won Team USA its first medal in the event since 2008.

The Massachusetts native became a viral meme when he was seen closing his eyes while readying for the event.

“We were probably going to medal if I nailed my set, and they were jumping up and down and I was like, ‘I think we did it!’ ” Nedoroscik told reporters in Paris. “And they picked me up and, man, that’s a memory that’s going to live in my head forever.”

Nedoroscik then a earned bronze medal in the individual pommel horse final.

He drew comparisons to Clark Kent and Superman after he took his glasses off just before performing one of his routines.

“I will definitely take that,” he told NBC’s “TODAY Show” at the Olympics. “In a way, it is kind of like that. You know, I’m a goofy guy with the glasses on, but as soon as I take them off, I’m locked in. I’m ready to go.”

“DWTS” Season 33 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 17 on ABC and Disney+.
