Prince Charles bored at Queen Elizabeth’s 1953 coronation — like his kids, grandkids

It’s good to be the king — but everything else is a bore.

A recently unearthed photo of King Charles at his mom Queen Elizabeth’s 1953 coronation ceremony shows that he probably would have rather been eating a coronation quiche than watching the monarch be crowned.

In the black-and-white snap, the King is seen sandwiched in between his aunt, Princess Margaret, and grandmother, Elizabeth the Queen Mother, as he rests his chin on his hands during the three-hour ceremony.

The young King, then four years old, looks extremely disinterested in what’s happening around him at Westminster Abbey, clad in a frilly blouse and perfectly combed hair.

The late Queen’s coronation marked the start of her 70-year reign, and it was a moment that took place on TV for the first time in history, drawing millions of viewers.

Queen Elizabeth was only 27 when she ascended to the throne, after her father, King George VI, died at the age of 56 in 1952 after he suffered from a coronary thrombosis, according to Science Direct.

But hopefully, King Charles won’t get this bored at his own coronation ceremony, which is set to take place on Saturday, May 6 at Westminster Abbey.

It marks the official transfer of power to the king after the death of Queen Elizabeth in September at the age of 96.

King Charles will be the oldest king to be crowned at the age of 74.

Many members of his family will be in attendance at the historic ceremony, including his three grandchildren – Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 – whose parents are Prince William and Kate Middleton. William has been photographed as an unenthusiastic attendee of royal events when he was a child. And, who knows – in a few decades, we could be looking back on a cheeky photo of Prince Louis at the King’s coronation, too, as it wouldn’t be the first time the young royal has acted out in public.

Last summer, at the Queen’s jubilee celebration in June, Prince Louis stole the show as he stood up on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Queen’s flyover.

During the engagement, he made several funny faces for the public – at some points, he cheekily covered his ears, covered his face with his hands, and struck his fingers in his mouth.

His mom, Kate Middleton, tried to restrain him, but it looked like it was to no avail.

He also made some faces at the Jubilee Pageant Parade on the Buckingham Palace Mall during the Jubilee as he sat next to Middleton during the event.

The youngster covered her mouth, stuck his tongue out at her, and put his thumb on his nose, later going viral for the funny moments.

Because of his past antics and young age, it was unclear whether or not he would be joining the family for all parts of the upcoming coronation ceremony, but it looks like his royal presence has been confirmed as he was spotted at a rehearsal earlier this week, Page Six reported.

Also in attendance will be King Charles’ son, Prince Harry, whose relationship with the family has been strained in recent years.

He will be showing up without his wife, Meghan Markle, and it will be the first time in the United Kingdom since the January release of his bombshell, tell-all memoir, “Spare.”

In his book, he alleged that his older brother, Prince William, “physically attacked” him after they got into quite the row over Markle in 2019.

Another recent report alleged that Queen Camilla is still “furious” at the Prince for his memoir, where he alleged that his stepmother leaked stories to the press about him and the rest of the royal family.
