Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will never get back the original relationship they once shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton, a royal expert has warned.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly been itching to repair the bridges they burned after quitting royal life in 2020.
The duo, who now reside in sunny Montecito, Calif., with their two children, have reportedly contacted the Prince and Princess of Wales in hopes of reconciling.
But according to former royal butler Grant Harrold, who had previously worked for King Charles, “too much damage” had been done for things to go back to how they were.
“[Harry] caused damage and broke down trust,” Harrold exclusively told The Post. “It’s difficult when you’re a future monarch.”
“I doubt they’ll ever get back the relationship they had originally. That was a very different relationship built on trust,” he said on behalf of Slingo. “It’s going to take time. William is a tough character. He’s a good guy.”
Despite the unlikeliness of the feuding brothers to reconcile, Harrold noted that he has hope for the situation — no matter how far-fetched it is.
“I’d like to think that their relationship will get back on track,” he said. “But yes, it is unlikely.”
It was reported last week that Harry — who is set to receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service at the 2024 ESPYs — has been “so worried” about the Princess of Wales since learning of her cancer diagnosis.
“Whilst he has managed to connect with her on a few occasions it’s not nearly as often as he’d like,” an insider said.
The mom of three, 42, revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world in March.
Since then, Harry had been back on home soil in May, but did not meet up with any of his estranged family during his three-day trip to London.
The “Suits” alum, for her part, did not accompany her husband for either of the trips.
Harry and Markle, 42, have been shut out by the royals ever since they sensationally stepped down as senior members of the Firm four years ago.
Soon after settling down in the US, the duo signed on the dotted line for a series of tell-all projects, each of which revealed bombshell details about the ongoing rift between the two camps.
After sitting down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Sussexes went on to release their six-part Netflix documentary, as well as Harry’s protocol-shattering memoir, “Spare.”
Unsurprisingly, the lucrative projects have done them no favors in repairing their relationship with the royals.
