Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has reaffirmed that he has little interest in performing with the band again.
speaking in an interview with LA Times (opens in new tab) To promote her current North American tour with Alison Krauss, Plant was asked how her singing voice has changed over time.
“I know that the full, open-throated falsetto that I was able to concoct in 1968 took me until I got tired of it,” Plant says. “Then that kind of exaggerated personality of the vocal performance adapted and went somewhere else.
“But actually, I was playing in Reykjavik in Iceland, about three years ago, right before COVID. It was midsummer night and there was a festival, and I found my band and I said, ‘Okay, let’s do it. immigrant Song, He had never done it before. We just hit it, and the bang – there it was. I thought, ‘Oh, I didn’t think I could still do that.'”
Reminded that fans would love to see him do this with Led Zeppelin, Plant responded, “Going back to the font to get some kind of massive applause – it doesn’t really satisfy my need to get excited. “
Plant also revealed that he had watched Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott’s vocal warm-up routine, and wasn’t completely convinced.
“I just go out and sing,” he says. “I know a guy from a famous band with whom Alison is pretty friendly — he’ll pour some sugar on me or something — who makes a whole lot of huddle backstage. I was back there once and he’d make such bloody noises. I said, ‘Why are you doing that?’ He said, ‘I’m getting hot.’ I said, ‘Okay, by the time you get there you’ll have nothing left.'”

Elsewhere in the LA Times interview, Plant and Krauss discuss the differences between British and American musicians, talk about their relationship outside of music, and reflect on the fact that the pioneers of rock are dwindling in numbers. .
Plant and Cross continue their US tour, while Plant also has Scottish and Irish dates, lined up with Saving Grace, the band that Suzy Diane accompanies. Speaking to the BBC’s Zoe Ball last November, Plant was asked about the possibility of saving grace – which covers songs from the Derek Trucks Band, Bob Dylan, Plankty, Moby Grape, Lou, Donovan, Los Lobos and Richard play. Linda Thompson – Recording an album.
“Saving Grace is a group of friends back from the Welsh borders, Worcestershire,” Plant replied, “and we do the show, the very intelligent, undercover show.” It’s a beautiful sound, a great sound and it’s delicately becoming another thing one day that we shouldn’t know or talk about… so yeah.”
