The next project under Marvel Studios has finally arrived She-Hulk: Lawyer at Law, Jennifer Walters, aka the titular green character in the Disney+ series, has been introduced to the MCU. While many people may not be familiar with the character, this is about to change quickly.
But, other than meeting Jane, what exactly will the show do for the MCU? Ultimately, it looks like the character will only continue his career as a lawyer, with any superhero second only. Many may find that this isn’t the most interesting of the set-ups when it comes to the character’s future and what Marvel Studios’ big plan has to offer him.
Now, the project’s director, Kat Coiro, has commented on how the first episode is already setting up future plot points in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Future That She-Hulk Makes Possible
In an interview with Cinema Blend, She-Hulk: Lawyer at Law Director Kat Coiro commented on how the first episode of the series not only sets up the rest of the show but also lends itself to upcoming Marvel Studios projects.
While his quote is brief, he confirms that there is a large spacecraft briefly seen in the opener. “Our series is tied into the narrative, but it also lends itself to future projects.”
In a separate interview with Gizmodo, the show’s lead writer Jessica Gao commented on why the show hinged on a car crash and a large mysterious spaceship as the catalyst for Jennifer’s origins, rather than the crowd hit, which led to her change in the comics. The reason was ,
he revealed how “The head of Marvel specifically didn’t want it to be a crowd hit,” and that “It just didn’t feel right and right [Bruce Banner], For her to volunteer a blood transfusion to her cousin that would give her powers in what has been regarded as a curse for more than a decade:
“Well, there are several factors. First, the head of Marvel didn’t particularly want it to be a hit of the crowd… didn’t feel like it fit in with everything. But to me, this Bruce Banner, this After watching the Hulk all the years and through all the different MCU movies, it felt like we really tormented him by this. It wasn’t a gift. They really saw it as a curse. It didn’t make any sense to him. Forced to not make And learn to live with it. So to me, it didn’t make sense for that guy to voluntarily curse someone he cares about. His cousin, whom he really loves. It’s just It didn’t feel right and right for the character and it didn’t make sense to me. That’s why I didn’t want to do that.”
Goa continued, noting that they “Just need to be able to start the origin story very quickly,” And there were many benefits to moving away from mob lynching, including ,[taking] Too much guild pressure that Bruce would feel after giving [his p[powers] To Jennifer:”
“From a practical point of view, we just need to be able to start the original story pretty quickly… I didn’t want to spend half an hour setting something up… If you hit the crowd, it’s like, ‘Well. Then why? What happened?’ Let’s just get to the meat of everything. And the nature of making it an accident also takes a lot of pressure off the guilt that Bruce will feel for giving it to Jennifer because, on the show, we actually see that he’s in it. and how she, like him, doesn’t really see it as a gift in the first place. So I think if he was fully responsible and he made the choice for her then it was really his dynamism. will change it.”
Is She-Hulk Instrumental for the Future of the MCU?
while most she hulk In what may end up being a courtroom comedy, the arrival of the spaceship proves that the writers have a destination in mind for where the character is going. a. This all makes even more sense considering all the rumors about world war light Movies.
On top of that, Jennifer Walters has been a prominent member of the Avengers throughout comic history. While she’s focused on Law right now, there’s no future timeline where she doesn’t eventually end up with the iconic group and become more involved in those universe-shaping events; Yes, Avengers: Secret Wars Will be one of them. It’s really just a matter of how she gets there, if not.
It’s hard to imagine that the big Sakaran ship isn’t meant for anything really important. But what could it be? Well, it’s about Bruce’s son, Scar – who’s never mentioned until this point.
Bruce is also very afraid of his Hulk blood spilling out into the world, which would be an easy plot point to hit again as the streaming show progresses. It certainly feels like the perfect entrance into a massive Hulk event.
