Shannon Sharpe’s got an uneasy feeling about the Cowboys, and he’s using unwanted blasts from the past to illustrate that point.
The Hall of Fame tight end, 55, had the “First Take” panel in stitches Thursday when he likened the Cowboys to a former love when conveying his confidence issues with the 10-4 squad before their Week 16 matchup in Miami against the 10-4 Dolphins.
“I look at the Cowboys like one of my exes, they look good but I don’t trust them,” Sharpe said, to which Dan Orlovsky and Mina Kimes began cracking up.
Winners of five straight games, the Cowboys were riding high entering Buffalo last Sunday before the Bills demolished them, 31-10.
The Cowboys posted a season-low of 195 yards of offense and dropped to 3-4 on the road.
Orlovsky then posed a series of questions to Sharpe as Dallas looks to avoid that 3-5 slide Sunday in South Florida.
“What happens if the ex changed their ways, Shannon?” Orlovsky asked as the “Would win in Miami make you trust Cowboys again?” segment continued.
“What happens if the Cowboys go into Miami and they stop one of the best rushing attacks in football, and [Cowboys quarterback] Dak [Prescott] and this offense looks as explosive on the road as it does at home? Maybe they’ve changed their ways a little bit.”
Sharpe didn’t seem too convinced, stating, “I hope it works out well for her and her next partner.”
Beyond the Dolphins road trip, Dallas has one more away game this year: the Jan. 7 season finale against the Commanders in Washington.
Dallas, 7-0 at home this season, is currently the second seed in the NFC playoff race.
