Skip Bayless begs for forgiveness after wife stops speaking to him over Heat-Celtics outburst

Skip Bayless is trying to smooth things over with his wife.

After the FS1 personality said Monday on “Undisputed” that his wife, Ernestine, wasn’t speaking to him because of an outburst over the Celtics’ Game 6 win against the Heat, Bayless apologized to her later that night as the Heat crushed the Celtics in Boston in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals to advance to the 2023 NBA Finals.

“Please forgive me, Ernestine,” Bayless wrote on Twitter. “I am sorry about the fit I threw on Saturday night when I came within a tenth of a second of a great pick – Heat in 6. I am crazy happy now. YOU WERE RIGHT: You kept saying, “There’s still another game left.” Yes, but … YOU CALLED IT.”

Bayless had said Monday morning that he “threw a fit” as Ernestine walked in on him and asked what he wanted to eat during Game 6, when Derrick White’s last-second tip-in gave the Celtics the edge.

White’s shot capped the Celtics’ third consecutive win to storm back from a 3-0 deficit, giving them a chance to become the first team in NBA history to overcome a 3-0 playoff hole.

But with a chance to advance at home, the Celtics flopped in Game 7, falling 103-84.

Bayless was thrilled Tuesday morning with the Heat’s win, and he’s sticking with Miami against the Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Finals.

“I’m going Heat in 6 over the Nuggets,” Bayless said on “Undisputed” to Shannon Sharpe. “Why? Because the Heat will prove to be a little mentally tougher than a Nuggets team that hasn’t been on this stage.”

Boston shot 32-for-82 (39 percent) from the field and 9-for-42 (21.4 percent) from 3-point range.

Jayson Tatum had 14 points on 5-for-13 shooting with 11 rebounds and four assists, while Jaylen Brown had 19 points on 8-for-23 shooting — including 1-for-9 from 3-point range — with eight rebounds and five assists.

Jimmy Butler, who was the series MVP, scored 28 points for the Heat, which got revenge after losing to the Celtics in seven games during last year’s Eastern Conference finals, after which Butler made a prescient prediction.

“We had enough. Next year, we will have enough,” Butler said after the Heat’s Game 7 loss last year. “And we’re going to be right back in the same situation, and we’re going to get it done.”

The Heat will face the Nuggets in Game 1 on Thursday night in Denver.
