She’s going from TikTok to primetime.
TikTok influencer Tareasa “Reesa Teesa” Johnson is getting the TV treatment for her viral 52-part video series, “Who TF Did I Marry?” with Natasha Rothwell set to develop and star in the project.
Rothwell, 43, is best known for “The White Lotus,” for which she earned an Emmy nomination.
In the TikToks, which played out over 52 videos that add up to over eight hours of material, Johnson, an Atlanta transplant from New Jersey, documented her relationship with her ex-husband, who she said was a “pathological liar.”
“I did not pay attention to the United Nations of red flags,” she said in the first video, posted in February.
“And I’m paying the consequences for that.”
She earned over 3 million followers in two weeks, and the series has over 450 million impressions on social media.
In the series of videos, Ressa claimed her ex-husband — who she nicknamed “Legion” — lied about a wide range of topics. Among them, she claimed that he lied about being the vice president of a major condiments company, falsified phone calls with non-existent colleagues, and forged phony financial documents.
About why she fell for his lies, she said in the videos, “I was desperate. I wanted to be married. I wanted a family. And I thought it was my turn.”
Ressa claimed she and Legion initially met in March 2020 through Facebook Dating and Hinge.
She blew a tire on the way to the restaurant for their first date, but Legion saved her, fixing it and paying for the repair.
“I thought, ‘Oh my God, this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship,’” Ressa recalled. “Boy, was I wrong.”
She described how they then had a whirlwind romance, which saw Legion — who’d allegedly recently relocated from California to Georgia — move into Reesa’s condo, introduce her to his family members over the phone and place an all-cash offer on a nearly $700,000 home within two months.
After suffering a miscarriage in June 2020 and undergoing a surgery, Reesa said that Legion left her in post-op recovery for several hours.
She still married him in January 2021.
But, his alleged lies began to pile up, revealing infidelities. Reesa eventually discovered that he worked as a temporary forklift operator rather than a corporate executive.
She kicked him out in June 2021, and they divorced two months later.
At the time that Reesa first posted the videos, viewers were captivated.
“OMG I’ve watched all 50+ parts [of] ‘Who TF did I marry?’… it was literally so INSANE,” penned a fan to X.
“The ‘Who TF did I marry?’ TikTok’s got us hooked. Not us having a watch party at work,” another person said.
At the end of the series, Reesa said, “When I made the decision to tell my story, I just wanted to help one person. Being single sucks.
She added, “But being married to the wrong person is a type of hell no one should have to go through.”
Her ex-husband has since taken to YouTube to deny Johnson’s allegations, claiming that he “told her the truth” throughout their marriage.
Rothwell, who is also known for “Insecure,” has a new Hulu show coming out Sept. 13 called “How to Die Alone.” She’ll also reprise her role in “The White Lotus” Season 3, premiering on HBO on an unannounced date.
