Inés Gómez Mont, who previously made headlines for proposing to Tom Brady, was arrested and detained by ICE in Miami on Friday, according to The Sun.

The Mexican TV presenter of “TV Azteca” and “Televisa” is wanted in Mexico regarding a $160 million fraud scheme involving herself and her lawyer husband Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga.

The couple is accused to have used shell companies, false invoices and contracts to bring in the money from Mexico’s Interior Ministry and launder it.

Investigators allege the two are part of a network led by Álvarez Puga, also known as the “King of the Invoice Mills.” He has been linked to a network of contacts including politicians, government officials, lawyers, business people and celebrities.

The couple reportedly fled Mexico in 2021 after arrest warrants were issued against them over the alleged scandal.

It came years before ICE detained Puga in Miami in September 2025 regarding immigration irregularities.

He was eventually released on bond and his current stats is unknown.

Gómez Mont was photographed as she was escorted by police in handcuffs. She awaits any formal extradition process to Mexico while in US immigration custody.

The 43-year-old has previously denied any wrongdoing by herself and her husband.

“Indeed, according to the press, the authorities accuse me of allegedly receiving money from two public contracts (which amount to 3 billion pesos) and of belonging to organized crime. Those facts are absolutely false,” she wrote to her 2.5 million Instagram followers in September 2021. “That is, without any justification they put me on the same level as a drug dealer or terrorist. Seems like an injustice to me.

“To be clear, I’ve never stolen a weight. I haven’t received any money from those contracts, let alone I’ve never seen or had 3 billion pesos in my life. I’m a TV host and a full time mom. And under no concept do I belong to organized crime.

“I also have a legitimate fear that, as a result of this statement, the authors in charge of my case, will be leaning against me even more, since I have been warned of more cases fabricated against me. But I can’t keep silent anymore. On the contrary, I will continue to work with my legal team to defend myself and always honestly share with you the details of my case.

“To all who know me and know who I am, thank you for your support and love. To those who do not know me and have heard premature judgments against me, I respectfully ask for your vote of confidence. I know whom I am. For me and my children, I will demonstrate my innocence with dignity and I will not keep silent. I repeat: I am innocent and this is injustice.”

Gómez Mont was known for proposing to the seven-time Super Bowl winner while decked out in a wedding dress and veil during media day at the 2008 Super Bowl.

The Patriots, who were 18-0 at the time, would go on to be shocked 17-14 by the Giants in the big game.

Brady turned her down, marking a career moment for her while covering the big event.
