It’s Surf De Soleil.
A Canadian woman is making waves online after videos surfaced of her riding a surfboard while simultaneously playing tennis, hula hooping and even wearing high heels. The clip of her one-woman show is currently blowing up as viewers marvel at her ability to perform multiple talents in tandem.
“I think they were surprised when I managed [the heels trick],” Cassandra Lee, 29, told SWNS of her family’s reaction to her shredding the waves in stilettos.
The Vancouver native, whose family has always been “active and outdoorsy,” had reportedly been inspired to perform the incredible feat of balance when her friends suggested she “do something funny on the board.”
“One day my friends were talking about things I could do and I wondered if I could do it in heels,” explained the counselor, who had only been wake surfing for around two years at that point. Wakesurfing is similar to wakeboarding — in which you ride the waves created by a boat — but without the use of a tow rope.
Thankfully, Lee’s stunt went off without a hitch. Accompanying footage shows the daredevil effortlessly riding the choppy maters while rocking heels and a fancy dress as if preparing for a “board” meeting.
“It was actually fine. I got out, got going and I was surprised,” exclaimed Lee, adding that her family thought the stunt was super “cool.” However, admitted she couldn’t “go for as long in heels” because “your balance is thrown off.”
In wake of the heels stunt, people gave Lee “a bunch of other ideas,” which she was all too happy to perform. Other videos depict the water woman surfing while bouncing a tennis ball and even casually drinking coffee and reading a paper as if in a waiting room.
In one video, the thrill-seeker can even be seen ripping wake while twirling a hula hoop multiple times around her waist — a stunt that’s difficult to master even while standing on flat ground.
“They’re [Lee’s family] super supportive and try to help with different ideas while filming the videos and cheering me on,” said the impromptu stuntwoman.
The reaction has been more mixed online with some critics lecturing her on the danger of hitting the waves in heels. “Some people think it’s really cool, others think it’s very dumb and that if I fall in heels I won’t be able to swim,” said Lee.
However, the surfer gal assures critics that “safety precautions are in place and I make sure I can swim in heels.”
“There’s a rope tied to the boat which I use to get up,” Lee explained. “Once I’m up, I throw the rope into the boat.
She added, “Because you’re going so slow during wake surfing, it’s just like falling into waves. It’s really easy on your body and doesn’t hurt if you fall.”
The aquabat says she doesn’t “know what’s coming next” as “it’s hard to come up with different ideas.”
However, she hints that a wedding-themed wake-surfing photo shoot could be in the cards. “Hopefully next year my boyfriend and I will actually be engaged and getting married and I’ll be able to do a wedding shoot in my wedding dress with him in his suit,” Lee said.
In a similarly shocking surfing stunt in 2015, a Hawaiian waterman set himself ablaze while catching a giant wave off the coast of Teahupo’o, a village in Tahiti.
