World-famous DJ Diplo treks 6 miles on foot to escape Burning Man: ‘F—d up’

World-renowned DJ Diplo hoofed it out of the Burning Man festival, trekking six miles in the muddy Nevada desert after rain lashed the annual gathering.

The musician filmed himself walking along soaked terrain, after downpours forced the closure of the festival’s main entry and exit gate in the Black Rock Desert.

“Here I am, walking out of Burning Man again,” he said in one clip posted to his Instagram account. “Six miles in, we’re almost to the road.”

“It’s f—d up, but I love it,” he added in another clip. “Life presents many challenges, you’ve just got to persevere.”

He later showed himself inside a car talking with a friend, who noted an app on his phone said it was a 39-minute walk.

“It was like 2 hours, but okay,” the DJ responded while laughing.

In 2023, Diplo went viral when him and Chris Rock walked miles through the mud until they were saved by a fan driving a pickup truck. Roughly 73,000 people were stuck at the festival after rain turned the event into a muddy catastrophe.

Diplo also shared that he had been performing at Burning Man from Wednesday night to Thursday night, stretching into early Friday morning. After his Thursday night performances, he was seen partying until 6:30 a.m.

“These people are sick in the head, I love it,” he captioned one of his posts.

Burning Man is a nine-day celebration of art, music, and anarchist hijinks in the Nevada desert where each year a city is built on bare sand and razed after a week of drug-fueled, clothing-optional partying.

This year, the event reportedly saw 0.22 inches of rain, according to SFGate.

On Thursday, a man was tragically found dead at the festival. The person, identified only as a man in his mid-50s, suffered a medical emergency and received lifesaving measures, according to organizers.

He was taken to the camp’s emergency care center and pronounced dead.

Burning Man has been steadily shrinking since its 2019 peak, but the share of people in their 40s and 50s is on the rise, data shows. The festival itself has gotten more expensive to attend.
