YEEZY’s new position in the resale market confirms: the hand-me-down YEEZY GAP is booming.
According to the site’s Big Fact: Current Culture Index, Ye’s YEEZY brand saw over 1,063% trade growth on StockX. As a result, the Kanye label is now the fastest growing apparel brand on the resale platform.
Presumably, the egotistical creative “god” would probably prefer nothing more than to thank himself. Surprisingly, though, the YEEZY GAP partnership has been patted on the back.
As reported mid-year, StockX contributed YEEZY’s staggering growth to its “successful collaboration with GAP.”
To be honest, I’m not surprised. YEEZY GAP offers Yeezus disciples an affordable way to dress up as they taste.
Between democratic outreach and the Kanye-Association, the partnership is fundamentally idiotic, no matter how disorganized its inner workings!
Sure, it’s a bit unfair to take all the credit for YEEZY, given its high-ranking resale status as a result of a team effort with GAP.
If StockX’s report is to blame for the fastest growing collaboration, YEEZY GAP will surely reign supreme at the top of the resale food chain.
Despite the disappointing slow burn of YEEZY GAP engineered by Balenciaga and Demna stepping down from her engineering position, YEEZY GAP only keeps getting bigger.
If only the benefits were exchanged on behalf of GAP. Then again, YEEZY might actually be the one to save the American Apparel brand from its financial woes.
The StockX report also saw some expected and unexpected winners. Thanks primarily to its 550 model, New Balance continues to rise through the ranks. Despite its existential woes, New Balance’s 550 remains arguably the most hyped model at the moment.
Hot Wheels is having a renaissance in resale. MSCHF’s wild products are officially collectibles. HOKA is a certified second hand market banger.
The hand-me-down in the Swatch is also flourishing in the land. No surprise there.
This Omega collab has turned into global chaos, creating block-by-block queues around the world and reselling for almost 10 times the retail $260.
It will be interesting to see if YEEZY maintains its hot-ticket-resale position in the post-retail segment, especially now that YEEZY GAP is readily available in GAP stores across the country.
Still, I doubt Kanye fans will live up to the hype for YEEZY GAP’s online drops, constantly flipping web releases despite the plethora of wrinkled gear waiting in controversial garbage bags in stores.
Yep, that’s just the effect comes into play again.
Anyway, while we await the release of YEEZY GAP SHADES, what about that dumpster dive?
