‘Young and the Restless’ star Eric Braeden reveals he is cancer-free

Eric Braeden, who has played Victor Newman on the CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless” for more than 40 years, has revealed that he is cancer-free.

The 82-year-old actor shared news of his diagnosis in April, telling fans that he had been battling prostate issues before undergoing immunotherapy.

Taking to social media Sunday, the German-born star shared the good news with his large following.

“I’m cancer-free. They couldn’t find the damn thing,” he said in a Facebook Live video on Aug. 13. “So thank you for all of your good thoughts. All of your prayers meant a great deal to me.”

“Now, this does not mean that it is all over,” he said, adding that he still has a couple more procedures to undergo.

“My last cystoscopy two days ago — that’s when they thread a camera into your bladder — and I am cancer-free,” he added.

He is also awaiting MRI results to confirm that the cancer hasn’t spread.

“I love life, man. Why wouldn’t I?” he said Sunday. “I’m working on the No. 1 show. It has been No. 1 for 38 years now. Why would I complain? That would be obscene.”

The Emmy-winning performer — who also appeared in “Titanic,” as John Jacob Astor IV, and the 2018 heist thriller “Den of Thieves” — said his cancer battle saw him connect with many people in addition to his friends and loved ones.

“My health is good. I feel good, I really do. I can’t complain,” he added.

In April, Braeden revealed his diagnosis in a video post shared to his social media pages.

“I’m a little under the weather, but not really much. I work out, but reduced, in a reduced way,” he said in a 13-minute Facebook video.

Braeden said a urologist discovered some “high-grade” cancerous cells while examining his bladder.

He added that he had been able to continue acting on “Y&R” while undergoing six weeks of immunotherapy treatments.

“I’m happy to be able to go to work,” he said at the time. “That, I enjoy. It distracts me. I love acting. I love knowing that I entertain people.”

“This bastard ain’t going to get me. I’m going to get it,” he added. “I’ll be in top form again soon.”
