A woman has shared the “crazy” moment her Hinge date “stalked” her in the middle of the night after just one date.
YouTuber Tana Mongeau, who has over 5.3 million subscribers on the platform, thought the man she’d matched with on the dating app was a “super good guy.”
But after a single meet-up, the 25-year-old said he immediately pestered her for a second date – despite the fact she told him she was working.
“I had just gone out with him on a date the night prior and the next day, he was like, ‘I would love to see you tonight’,” Mongeau recalled in a recent episode of her podcast, Cancelled, to her co-host Brooke Schofield.
“I was like, ‘Okay, I have this event. I’ll let you know what I’m doing after. We can hang out, maybe. If not, I’ll let you know.’ And then he goes, ‘Can I come with you?’
“I find it very weird that when you go on one date with someone, they invite themselves … it’s a bold ask. I wouldn’t do it.”
Mongeau then said she attempted to make plans with him after her event.
“I don’t want to babysit this man all night. Like, I want to be able to just do my thing. So I say, ‘I don’t know … Let’s meet up after’. And he’s like, ‘Why not? Like, I can talk to people, too.’ He’s 34, I find that to be kind of strange, you know? I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll see you later’,” she said.
“So he’s texting me, and he’s like, ‘What are you doing?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m still hanging out with my friends.’
“I say to him, ‘I know it’s 1:15 am, it’s kind of late, but if you wanted to watch a movie later or hang out, I could potentially be down but I’m gonna be here.’
“He’s like, ‘It’s okay. I’m tired but I’m down to watch a movie in a little bit if you’re done soon.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, perfect.’
“And he goes, ‘Where are you?’ I answer him because it’s just conversational. So I’m like, ‘Oh I’m at this nightclub just vibing with my friends. I’ll tell you when I’m done.’”
Within five minutes, Mongeau said she received another text message from the man – this one begging her to go outside and “get in my car.”
“Insane. I go, ‘Did I not just tell you? I’m with my friends, I’m having fun. Who said pick me up?’” she said.
“I think that’s so crazy. If it’s like your boyfriend, it’s fine – or even if we have been dating for a month. But we went on one date the day before? Why the f**k are you outside? Don’t be outside. Don’t be that guy.”
A video of the Cancelled segment has been watched more than 3.1 million times – with viewers sharing their own similar horror stories in the comments.
“I literally told a guy ‘Maybe we can hang out later’,” one wrote. “I fall asleep, and he showed up at my house.”
“One time I told a guy ‘Hey sorry I’m sick’ – implying that I don’t wanna hang out and he showed up anyway,” said another.
“Do I have to spell out ‘DON’T COME OVER’ lol.”
