These winning combinations typically feature protein as an important food group, as it helps keep you feeling full for longer. On the other hand, the drink has been shown to support metabolism and digestion to help your stomach stay happy and healthy.
Power pairing: Kick off the most important meal of the day by combining eggs and coffee.
“Eggs can help boost your metabolism for a few hours,” explains Snodgrass. “This is because protein requires your body to use more energy to digest it. This is known as the thermic effect of food (TEF).” research published in Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism have shown that protein-rich foods increase TEF the most.
“Protein can also help keep you full for longer, which can prevent overeating,” she says.
As far as drinking coffee, Snodgrass suggests that this caffeinated beverage may aid in weight loss by increasing metabolism, reducing calorie intake, and stimulating fat burning. However, the most important part is to make sure that you drink it black without any added substances like cream or sugar.
Finally, Snodgrass suggests that eggs should be prepared without any added calories. For example, you can have a hard-boiled egg with paprika for flavor, but don’t throw in calorie-consuming foods like cheese or butter.
What to choose for lunch, keep in mind that this fish and tea combo can provide some winnings for weight loss.
Similar to eggs, Snodgrass says grilled fish can help boost your metabolism for a few hours because the protein your body needs to use up more energy to digest them (TEF). This, again, can help keep you fuller for longer.
As far as green tea goes, this could be the perfect mid-day boost for you (if you’re drinking it plain, that is).
“Green tea may help promote weight loss by increasing energy levels and improving performance while exercising,” says Snodgrass. “And, green tea contains high amounts of catechins, which are antioxidants that may increase fat burning and boost metabolism.
All great sources of Snodgrass protein suggest that nuts, seeds, low-sodium black beans and chickpeas are metabolism-boosting and can keep you full throughout the night.
For example, black beans are not only a great source of protein that can aid with metabolism, but they are also great for digestion. The soluble fiber in black beans can help keep you full, and can also help you maintain a healthy gut, which in turn can positively affect your ability to lose weight.
Ginger tea is the perfect weight loss pairing with your salad. “When examined in human studies, ginger indicates that it may promote fullness, decrease appetite and increase metabolism,” says Snodgrass.
If you feel like you need a snack to carry you from one meal to the next, this is the perfect combination.
Snodgrass says that Greek yogurt is rich in protein that will help you feel full and lose weight. It is also full of good bacteria for your gut, which can promote good gut health. Adding berries helps add a layer of fiber to the mix.
Mix it with cold water, and you are ready for a hearty breakfast. “Drinking cold water increases resting energy expenditure, which is the number of calories you burn while resting.
