It wasn’t their business.
A single mom who said she moved across Texas to launch her lucrative OnlyFans account revealed that her family “had no idea” she was changing career paths. Now, her secret hustle is reportedly netting her $40,000 a month.
Vanessa James was sick of her waitress job, wanting to find a way to mop up cash without wiping down tables. James, 32, decided the adult content site was her best shot.
Lying to her family — telling them she was moving in with a new partner — the mom of two packed up her life and moved to Houston from her hometown of Harlingen.
“I wasn’t worried about being caught [on OnlyFans], but I didn’t want to explain myself to anyone,” the creator, who touts 306,000 followers on Instagram, told NudePR.com of her decision.
Harlingen, she said, is “small” compared to the big city lights of Houston — and full of gossip.
“I knew a lot of people around town and was tired of running into them at the gym or grocery store and them asking me why I was no longer at the restaurant,” she continued.
So, she left. If she was going to be a full-time creator on OnlyFans, she “didn’t want to live in my hometown while doing it.”
She said she took her two sons, her sister and her sister’s children along for the ride.
“I was worried about being judged and even more worried because I’d never even had a nude saved in my phone before OnlyFans,” she said of her “leap of faith,” adding that she “rarely took nudes or sent provocative photos” in her personal life.
Turning to the subscription-based platform full-time in May 2020, she claims she scored $60,000, her highest-earning month, three months later.
Since then, she said she’s spent $50,000 on plastic surgery — for a breast augmentation, liposuction, brachioplasty, labiaplasty, tummy tuck and even three Brazilian butt lifts — and is saving some funds for her children’s future.
“I have no regrets in switching professions,” she declared, gushing that she “loves” her new job.
“Sometimes people wish they could live the ‘American Dream,’” she said. “To some that means having freedom and not having to answer to a boss and making significant amount of fast cash, and that’s what I’m doing!”
The stay-at-home mom can work from anywhere, and her newfound success allows her more quality time with her kids. Even her friends have been supportive of her choice, she said — “they don’t knock anyone’s hustle.”
“It’s been such a blessing,” she added.
James isn’t the first OnlyFans model to quit her 9-to-5 for a more profitable online career.
Cops, nurses and teachers — oh my! — have ditched their day jobs to make X-rated content, moving from minimum-wage gigs to six-figure salaries.
