Man earns Guinness World Record for fastest 100-meter sprint — in heels

He kept them on their heels.

A serial world record-breaker from Spain ran a 100-meter sprint while wearing high heels.

Christian Roberto López Rodríguez donned 2.76-inch stilettos and ran the distance in 12.82 seconds, earning his 57th Guinness World Record, which the reference book posted on its Instagram page Friday.

His time was actually only 3.24 seconds slower than Jamaican runner and eight-time Olympic gold-medal winner Usain Bolt’s 100-meter sprint world record.

“The preparation was very exhaustive and specific,” Rodríguez, 34, told the record book.

“I find it very challenging to be able to run in high heels at high speed. In Spain, there are races like this, and they have always gone well for me.”

He managed to dethrone Germany’s André Ortolf, who set the record in 2019 with a time of 14.02 seconds.

Rodríguez, who is a Type 1 diabetic, told the outlet he attempted the feat to show that people with the illness “can do as much or more things than people without diabetes.”

The overly-ambitious record setter holds other titles for the 100-meter sprint — and is the fastest man to have done it in situations such as being blindfolded, in a sack, in clogs, and backward.
