I share a bed with my husband and 4-year-old — haters say we’re ‘too close’

Caroline Chirichella vowed to be a “textbook mom” when she found out she was pregnant, but now admits she has a “softer” parenting approach — and not everyone agrees with it.

Chirichella, 34, and her husband Vito, 57, are often accused of being “too close” to their 4-year-old daughter Lucia, revealing they still sleep in the same bed as their little girl.

“If I’m not supposed to be close with my 4-year-old daughter — my flesh and blood — then who should I be this close to?” Chirichella told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“I believe each parent has the right to choose how they raise their children, as long as it’s safe and healthy,” she added.

The loving mom dispelled rumors that sharing a bed with her husband and daughter would create any intimacy issues — swearing it’s made her sex life “stronger” than ever.

“If anything, it’s made our relationship, and our sex life, stronger since I see what a wonderful and loving father my husband is,” she gushed. “It’s made me love him even more.”

Sleeping in the same bed isn’t their only controversial parenting decision. The new-age parents also chose not to send Lucia to school until she’s 5 — although she assures haters she teaches her little girl at home.

“She knows the alphabet, numbers, shapes and days of the week — often, she completes puzzles for 8-year-olds,” she said. “In the past, people have commented that not sending my daughter to school was a mistake, but quite frankly, she is exactly where she should be.”

She also added their sleep schedules are better than ever — although she knows their cozy sleeping habits won’t last forever.

“When the time comes to move her into her own bed, my plan is to involve her in the process, such as letting her pick a bed, sheets and a night lamp,” she explained. “I honestly don’t know at what age I will push this, since right now, it’s not a concern of ours.”

Despite loving sleeping with her daughter, Chirichella — who is now pregnant with her second child — said there has been some issues with their arrangement.

“Sometimes, my daughter wants to go to bed and I won’t leave her sleeping alone, as I’m nervous about her falling off our high bed,” she said.

Chirichella said she was part of a supportive and loving family growing up, which she believes has been the inspiration for creating a similar environment within her own home.

“You want your child to feel loved and supported, while knowing that they are safe,” she explained.

“I love sleeping next to my daughter and hearing her breathe — it comforts me. I have no plans of stopping anytime soon.”
