If the thought of turbulence has you shaking in your boots, this pilot has you covered.
Aircraft captain Jimmy Nicholson has taken to TikTok to share his tip for the best place to sit if you don’t want to experience a rocky flight.
“If you sit at the front of the aircraft, you are going to experience less turbulence,” the pilot, from Sydney, explained in his viral clip, which has clocked up 137,000 views.
“If you’re at the back, it’s going to be a little bit more bumpy,” he continued.
Nicholson held up his cat to model the way a plane moves in the air.
While swishing his cat’s tail and hind legs he told his followers: “The rear of the aircraft will swing more, the front will swing less.”
“So if you are scared of flying or feel sick when you experience turbulence, sit up the front of the aircraft.”
While turbulence can lead to motion sickness and anxiety, it’s not usually dangerous, Nicholson assured his followers.
“Remember, the aircraft is not going to fall out of the sky. You’re all good. It’s just an annoying thing that hopefully will only last for a matter of minutes,” he said.
He also had a word of advice for travelers who get ill when the flight gets bumpy.
“If you do feel sick when you’re flying, look for a visual reference. So look outside the window and stare at the horizon,” he suggested.
Fellow TikTokers commented on the seasoned flyer’s advice with cheeky jokes.
“Lol I don’t care about feeling sick when in bad turbulence. I too busy making peace before I die,” one quipped.
“Turbulence is a comfortable massage,” joked another.
“If I could take that cat on the plane, I’d never be nervous,” said a third.
While some may want to ignore turbulence like the plague, others find it entertaining. Earlier this month, a former flight attendant revealed they treat turbulence like a “rollercoaster” and enjoy the ride.
