My favorite Crocs nearly got me killed — how it happened is so embarrassing

She had her world Croc-ed.

Single girl Sara Aziz was left coveting a pair of closed-toe shoes after her beloved silver glitter Crocs nearly got her killed during a home improvement project.

The Colchester, England-based office assistant reasoned she “didn’t need no man” to help move a couch between levels in her apartment, but ran into trouble when her favorite footwear caused a chain reaction of unfortunate events, leaving her pinned between stairs and sofa.

“It was an L-shaped three-seater and I was moving it because it was sitting in my living room for a month and it’s just been an eyesore,” Aziz told Kennedy News and Media.

But just as the 30-year-old was sure she was on her way to a job well done, the couch got caught on the bannister. Aziz decided to shimmy underneath the weighty object to wriggle it free.

That’s when she slipped and fell backward — thanks to her questionable choice of shoes — causing her to become pinned under the heavy furniture.

“One minute I was up and the next minute I was down,” Aziz recalled. “I fell on my back, which hurt, and because the sofa was too low down I couldn’t get back up again.”

Thankfully, Aziz had stuck her phone in her bra, and was able to fish it out in order to call for help.

Her father promised to come and help, but an hour later, Aziz was still stuck and waiting for a savior.

“I was like, ‘What do I do?’ I had to do the most embarrassing thing in the world and call the fire brigade. I was stuck for 90 minutes,” she said.

Just minutes after arriving, the firefighters were able to free Aziz from her prison under the couch. She walked up the stairs as they disassembled the sofa.

Ambulance crews checked her over, and determined that she had come out of the ordeal unscathed — aside from a bruise on her chest.

Aziz even snapped a photo of her saviors to send to her sisters before they left on their merry way.

“The firemen were very handsome but I was lying there looking like a slug so I don’t think I looked as good,” she added.

“I took the picture of the fireman on the stairs as I knew my sisters wouldn’t believe it,” she said.

After the harrowing affair, Aziz admitted that she’s rethinking her everyday shoe choices — as well as the idea of moving furniture without help.

“I still love my Crocs; I wear them daily,” she said. “I’ve learned not to lift a sofa by myself and wear more secure shoes on the stairs, especially when lifting.”

And even though Aziz may have been embarrassed by the incident, Colchester firefighters said they’re just happy for the positive outcome.

“We’re glad she was ok and we wish her a speedy recovery,” crew manager Dennis Campion told Kennedy News.

The outlet also reached out to Crocs and East of England Ambulance Services for comment.
