We asked for our Starbucks sandwich to be cut in half — what we got shocked us

A small request turned into a grande goof.

A couple was recently flabbergasted to receive an oddly shaped Starbucks turkey, provolone, and pesto sandwich on ciabatta bread.

“Hubby and I wanted to split a sandwich. I asked if it was possible if they could cut it in half. The barista said ‘of course no problem!’” Reddit user Vivian Hargis posted this week.

Expecting the gourmet nosh to be conventionally divided through its midsection, instead, Hargis was given a sandwich cut lengthwise.

“Guess I should’ve been more specific,” she added.

Hargis said she ordered two sandwiches — only one had been strangely sliced.

The Post reached out to Starbucks for comment.

In her Reddit post, Hargis did not specify the store location.

“I expect whoever was on food was irritated the barista on (drive thru) told me they would cut them,” Hargis wrote in a comment. “We got a good chuckle out of it. Watching [my husband] shove half of it down it one bite was quite the picture.”

She later told Today.com: “It was hilarious, we both had a good laugh about it, and my parents thought it was hilarious, too. They were like, ‘Put that on Reddit!’ That’s when I put it on.”

Reddit commenters roasted the deep cut.

“I’m sorry but this is so funny,” one user laughed.

“I fully support baristas running off of spite and spite alone,” declared another, while a third argued, “It’s giving malicious compliance.”

Another user found it particularly funny “because it was so much harder for them to cut it like this.”

As far as sandwich shenanigans go, this Starbucks order joins the ranks of last year’s six-way sandwich that found fame on Reddit.

“I make them like this to take to work, smaller chunks mean I don’t have hamster cheeks if I have to communicate with people,” the poster wrote of her unusual creation.

There was also the St. Louis-style bagel of 2019 that featured the sacrilegious practice of slicing the breakfast bread repeatedly from top to bottom instead of a horizontal cut through its middle.
