Nail tints are the hot trend of the summer — and much healthier for your nails

The next evolution of the “clean girl aesthetic” is here: nail tints.

The new summer staple is a glowy and healthy alternative to the bold and bright red nail trend of the spring.

Nail tints — also known as “nail glows” — are a transparent coating that provides a natural-looking manicure that can be done easily at home within minutes.

These sheer formulas don’t just make nails look healthy — they can be beneficial to those struggling with dry, brittle, peeled back or bumpy nails after years of manicures, acrylics, or a nail-biting habit.

Beauty experts compare them to what lip oil does to hydrate one’s lips in style.

“Nail tints are sheer, tinted polishes designed to enhance your natural nail color,” manicurist Ami Streets told Refinery 29. “They give a super glossy finish and the illusion of ‘perfected’ nails in one easy step, so it’s a really quick way to make nails appear ‘groomed’ with minimal product.”

Nail tints often contain strengthening, nourishing and brightening ingredients like almond oil and AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids), which can make noticeable improvements to the appearance and health of your nails.

These stripped-back manis only take one coat of the nail tint for a summertime glow, but if multiple coats are put on, the color of the tint can be more visible. It takes mere seconds for a coat of a nail glow to dry, making it a perfect on-the-go option.

Like concealer under your eyes, if your nails have been stained from nail polish, a purple-toned nail tint can correct the yellow appearance of your digits.
