When it comes to washing bodies, kids, items of clothing or bedsheets, people on the internet always have a lot to say.
So it should come as no great surprise that when a young woman on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, shared a photo of her somewhat ‘seasoned’ pillow, the comments went wild.
Taking to Elon Musk’s controversial site, the user named Effy shared an image of her pillow collection, topped with the discolored pillow in question and followed by the caption: “I got a new pillow, have to say goodbye to my old one, mum saw it and got mad.”
With over 12.5 million views, the yellow or light brown pillow is now an internet celebrity in its own right generating thousands of spicy comments.
“A giant tea bag”
Just like Effy’s mum, there were many outraged and ‘mad’ pillow owners letting rip in the comments.
“Looks like a giant used Tea bag,” wrote one observant user.

“I have never seen a pillow like that in my entire existence,” posted another.
“For anyone in the same predicament, just letting you know most pillows you CAN wash,” advised another.
“There’s also pillow protectors AS WELL AS pillowcases. There’s no reason in 2024 your pillow should be this nasty.”
But for every upset clean queen there was a sentimental yellow pillow fan.
“Respect for Lil Yellow”
“Nasty ? Girl that pillow is SEASONED! Seen her through all her tears, good naps, gave her bomb dreams too. Put some respect on Lil Yellow.”
A user named Terri called out those who professed to not have dealt with a pillow like this was not being truthful.
“Everyone saying they never seen a pillow look like this just lying to themselves,” she wrote.
All the comments and feedback eventually lead to Effy running a poll to get a sense of whether she should in fact keep her old tea-stained friend.

“With a pillow like that, you’re immune to everything”
With nearly 5,000 votes, 51 per cent were in favour of Effy hanging onto the pillow.
And with some pointing out the health benefits of such a pillow, maybe she really should.
