A Subway employee’s routine closing-shift video has gone viral online, giving the public a rare look at how the sandwich chain’s iconic bread is made.
The video, posted with the caption, “POV: you work a closing shift @subway,” showcases the rhythmical, clattering, and strangely satisfying sounds of restaurant prep and clean-up.
However, it’s the opening sequence, showing the preparation of the raw bread dough, that has captured the internet’s attention.
In the clip, the employee is seen throwing long, pale, unbaked sticks of frozen dough onto metal baking trays.
The dough bounces and thuds against the metal with a distinct, loud slap before the trays are slid into a large proofing rack to rise overnight.
While the video was intended as “ASMR,” a genre of videos meant to induce a relaxing, tingling sensation through repetitive sounds, some fast-food fans were left stunned by the less-than-gentle handling of the frozen loaves.
