If you feel like your coffee has been taking too long at Starbucks, this TikToker may know why.
Starbucks worker @pinknuckles revealed the reason why you may be waiting longer for certain drinks — and surprisingly, it has nothing to do with the contents of the order.
In the 39-second clip with over 257,000 views, the worker — who goes by Alex, according to his employee name tag — tries unsuccessfully to put a domed lid on a plastic cup.
“It’s a struggle pls don’t mad at us for the long wait [sic],” he captioned the clip, which shows him seemingly endlessly attempting to fit the lid on the drink, which is topped heavily with whipped cream.
“Why does it do this?” he asks of the lid. “Why? Why?”
In the comments, Alex noted he adds an extra cup to reinforce the cup while he wrestles the lid on, which is domed to allow for the whipped cream to remain fluffily atop the drink. But it didn’t help.
As it turns out, he’s not alone with struggling with this task.
“Those lids are straight from hell, making my life miserable,” wrote one viewer who apparently also works at Starbucks employee. Alex agreed, writing they are “created by the devil himself.”
“There is no anger like the anger when you accidentally smash it. It will ruin your week,” agreed another.
“Those lids are THE worst,” one insisted. “It makes me irrationally mad when I have to try like 7 different lids & the drink spilling just to get the lid on.”
Starbucks baristas often vent about their working conditions and tasks, taking to TikTok to give customers a peak behind the curtain as to how the chain coffee shops run.
