He can take a hike.

A young bride-to-be is anxious and irritated with her mother over who should walk the young woman down the aisle.

In the mom’s mind, it has become the inalienable right of her new boyfriend.

The 24-year-old posted to Reddit that her biological father sadly passed away when she was only 10 years old and that her mother’s new boyfriend, who is 50, has just been in the picture for about six years.

“While he’s always been nice to me, I’ve never seen him as a father figure, he came into my life when I was already an adult, and we’re friendly but not particularly close,” she said.

“I told my mom that I plan to walk myself down the aisle as a way to honor my independence and my dad’s memory.”

However, the 48-year-old mother didn’t take things so well.

She fired back at her daughter and insisted that not only had the boyfriend “earned” the spot, but not being walked down would “erase” her dad’s memory.

But the latter “couldn’t be further from the truth,” said the bride.

“Now her boyfriend is avoiding me, and my mom keeps calling me selfish and saying I’m ruining the wedding before it even starts.”

And, even though other family members strongly suggested the daughter concede “to keep the peace,” she’s willing to fight the good fight.

“This is my wedding, and I feel like I should have the final say.”

Online, several commenters agreed with that sentiment.

“It should be perfect according to your and your partner’s needs and desires. Not an area for point of contentions,” one replied. “Your mother is being manipulative and insulting.”

“He’s mom’s boyfriend. There is no ‘father-like’ relationship there,” another added.

A third person brought up a worrisome possibility with the wedding months away — next summer.

“It’s weird that she wants her boyfriend in the wedding because what if they break up?” they wrote.
