She’s leaving the single life in the dust — literally.
Seconds before pledging to love, honor and cherish her groom-to-be of 15 years at their wedding, bride Christie Jefferies hilariously blew off the dust that had accumulated on her written vows during the decade and a half she’s waited to become his wife.
“When you have been together for 15 years,” read the in-text caption of a trending TikTok that features Christie’s ceremonial stunt.
The viral video, which scored a whopping 19.7 million views and counting, was shared by event hall the School House in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, where Christie’s betrothal to longtime lover, Byron, took place.
“As a tribute to being together almost 15 years, Christie decided to ‘blow the dust’ off of her ceremony vows to Byron,” the clip’s caption read, in part. “Byron’s reaction [was] priceless.”
Blown away by his bride’s prank, the groom cut a shocked look before joining their equally surprised wedding guests in a thunderous laugh.
And TikTok audiences were tickled by Christie’s tease, too.
“That was the smartest joke I have ever seen,” remarked an impressed commentator.
“Just her way of telling him he should have married her 5 years ago without having to say anything,” chuckled another.
“[The groom is] like, ‘She’s actually roasting me on our wedding day,’ ” another quipped.
And other frustrated brides-to-be empathized with Christie. Like her, they, too, are patiently waiting decades for their man to pop the question.
“I’ve been waiting 22 [years], I think my [vows] will be going to the grave with me at this point,” wrote a wannabe wife.
“This will be me with 18 [years worth of] dust lmao,” groaned another.
But most social media watchers, despite their own questionable relationship statuses, showered the new couple with love and well wishes.
“Sooooo funny, you two are going to have a long and very happy marriage. Humour is so important. Congratulations to you both. Gorgeous couple,” cheered one online onlooker.
And newlyweds Christie and Byron agree that humor will keep their hearts intertwined.
“Laughter is key,” the silly sweethearts said in a statement to Storyful.
“This dust symbolized all of the love [we] had given each other until this point but also represented a new beginning for [us] as husband and wife.”
