Driver forgets wife during pee stop, forces her to walk 12.5 miles for help

For better or worse, he didn’t mean to kick her to the curb.

A Thai driver is being ridiculed online after accidentally leaving his passenger behind during a pee stop on Christmas day — which forced her to walk over 12 miles to seek help.

The marriage-testing mistake occurred after Boontom Chaimoon, 55 and his wife, Amnuay Chaimoon, 49, embarked on a road trip at 3 a.m. Sunday to spend the New Year in her hometown in the Maha Sarakham Province, Must Share News reported.

All was going swimmingly until her husband said he urgently needed to urinate and parked his car by the side of the road. Amnuay reportedly asked her other half why he didn’t stop at a gas station — but when he didn’t answer, she also decided to relieve herself in the jungle.

Her hubby apparently didn’t notice she had to go, too.

When the wife returned from her bathroom break, she saw what her husband had driven off without her — leaving her alone on the side of the road in the dark, according to local site Daily News.

Boontom Chaimoon, 55, had driven nearly 100 miles before he was alerted that he’d left his wife behind.

Feeling lost and scared, Amnuay decided to walk to district of Kabin Buri — which was located 20km (12.4 miles away). After a seemingly endless trek, she arrived at the destination at 5 a.m., whereupon she reported to the local police station.

However, her odyssey was far from over as the stranded woman did not know her husband’s number and had reportedly left her own phone inside a bag in the car. Reporters had called the device over 20 times — but no one had picked up.

At that point, the authorities attempted to contact her relatives instead. Amnuay feared that if she couldn’t get ahold of her husband or family, she would have to exchange her gold necklace for travel money.

It wasn’t until 8 a.m. that authorities finally managed to get ahold of her absent-minded soulmate, who by that time, had driven all the way to Korat province 159.6 km (nearly 100 miles) away, according to Thailand Posts English.

Amnuay Chaimoon had no way of getting ahold of her husband. Despite his epic act of forgetfulness, she said they did not argue when he picked her up. She later revealed that they’d been married for 27 years and had a 26-year-old son.

Upon hearing what he’d done, Bontoom quickly turned around to drive back to Kabin Buri and pick up his spouse.

When asked how he could’ve driven so far without noticing her absence, the humiliated husband said he thought she was in the backseat sleeping the whole time. He apologized to his wife profusely upon his return.

This isn’t the first time a husband has accidentally left his wife during a pitstop. In 2016, a woman was furious after her forgetful husband left her behind at a service station while driving from Brazil to Argentina.
