Eagle-eyed fans spot mystery stain on Anna Wintour’s custom Met Gala gown

She’s the queen of couture — but even Anna Wintour isn’t immune to a fashion faux pas.

The Vogue editor-in-chief, who’s presided over the Met Gala with a polished grip since 1995, appeared to have possibly suffered a rare red carpet slip-up tonight — thanks to what the internet believes was an unfortunate crimson stain on her custom Louis Vuitton gown.

Wintour, 74, arrived early — as always — at the star-studded bash. This year’s theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” a tribute to fashion titans like the late André Leon Talley and the 2009 book “Slaves to Fashion” by Monica L. Miller, which explores “Black dandyism” as a form of expression and protest.

But it wasn’t her nod to Talley that grabbed social media’s attention.

Decked out in a lustrous gray satin gown embroidered with delicate florals, a powder-blue coat, and a bold heart-shaped brooch, Wintour looked every bit the ice-cold style maven — until a suspicious reddish spot on the front of her dress sent the internet into a frenzy.

“It looks like Anna Wintour’s dress has a stain on it,” one user posted alongside a new photo, circling the offending area in black.

Another piled on: “anna wintour the editor and chief of vogue and her stain.”

“Anna… is that a stain on your dress?” asked one stunned fashion watcher, while another quipped ominously that Wintour will “murder” the X users who dared to notice.

Some users speculated the mark was intentional. “There’s a random batch of red stitching on Anna Wintour’s #MetGala2025 dress and I need the backstory,” one sleuth wrote.

Regarding the “Devil Wears Prada” muse’s alleged cutthroat nature, one particularly savage commenter joked, “Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a blood stain.”

Others were less charitable about her overall look: “anna wintour wore a slip dress and threw on a blazer for the theme like bffr.”
