Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg marries businessman Tom Bernthal in Wyoming

It was a weekend full of wedding bells. JLo and Ben Affleck weren’t the only power couple to tie the knot. Outgoing META COO Sheryl Sandberg married marketing executive and former TV producer Tom Bernthal on Saturday in a Western-themed wedding in Wyoming.

According to People Magazine, the wedding ceremony featured several western aspects, with Bernthal wearing cowboy boots and jeans.

Sandberg announced their wedding on Instagram.

“Married,” she wrote in the caption, followed by seven heart emoji.

In an Instagram post of his own, Bernthal shared the same picture as his new wife.

He wrote, “After both facing the loss, @sherylsandberg and I weren’t sure we’d ever find love again. Over the past three years, we’ve reunited our lives and reunited our families. Today’s ours The wedding was like a dream come true,” he wrote. ,

The couple’s five children all served as members of the bridal party. Sandberg has two children and Bernthal has three children.

Bernthal told People that “this is our marriage as the seven of us.”

“We keep saying, ‘We’re all getting married,'” Sandberg said.

When the couple got engaged in 2020, Bernthal proposed with a ring of five small diamonds hidden beneath the setting to symbolize their five children.

Writer Rob Goldberg, brother of Sandberg’s late husband Dave, was a co-worker of the newlyweds. He said it’s as “close to Dave’s blessings” as possible. Dave Goldberg died in 2015 after battling heart problems while on vacation in Mexico.

Sandberg and Bernthal began dating in 2019 after Goldberg introduced her.

The outgoing Meta executive previously stated that she “couldn’t imagine dating again, much less marrying” after the death of her late husband, but that her brother “had a different idea.”

“He just knew I wanted to meet you,” she wrote in a letter to Bernthal published last year by Good Housekeeping. “When I shook your hand for the first time, I had no idea that you were going to change my life.”

Sandberg announced that she plans to leave the company to focus on her philanthropic work and her family.

The couple asked that guests donate to VOW and CARE to support anti-child marriage programs and poverty reduction efforts instead of bringing gifts.

Sandberg said that she and Bernthal are choosing to marry, but that thousands of others around the world are still forced into child marriages.

“We are donating ourselves,” she said. “But inviting our guests to celebrate with us and try to end child marriage.”

Sandberg told PEOPLE that the couple has raised $1 million for VOW and $10 million for CARE.
