Halloween is almost here — as early forecasts predict mixed weather conditions for millions of trick-or-treaters

Halloween is less than a week away, and the forecast is shaping up for millions of trick-or-treaters across the US.

It’s the first time since 2020 that Halloween is on a Saturday, and Americans from coast to coast will be making the most of the weekend to celebrate.

But will any regions in the Lower 48 see some spooky weather in their forecast as the brewing Super El Niño has full control of the nation’s weather?

Northeast

The forecast in the Northeast is looking dry, as high pressure builds across the Northern Tier of the US next weekend — a lucky thing for trick-or-treaters and those participating in any Halloween parades or outdoor festivities.

Temperatures are also likely to be slightly above average, in the 60s by the afternoon, but likely a little cooler in the evening. So you might be able to forgo an extra layer or jacket over your Halloween costume.

Southeast

Similar to the Northeast, the Southeast is also expected to be warm and dry.

Above-average temperatures are expected across the region, likely with highs in the 70s for most.

Southern Plains

El Niño’s influence on the Pacific tropics is likely to come into play for the Southern Plains heading into Halloween weekend.

Remnant moisture from Hurricane Vance could surge north, increasing the risk of rain.

Uncertainty in the forecast remains high at this time, so trick-or-treaters shouldn’t cancel any plans just yet.

Midwest

Current early forecasts show the Midwest to follow the trend of a lot of the country with dry conditions and warmer-than-average temperatures.

The FOX Forecast Center said temperatures in places like St. Louis are likely to be in the low 60s on Saturday afternoon.

Southwest

The FOX Forecast Center predicts that weather in the Southwest will be active, as El Niño continues to intensify, allowing for a stronger jet stream.

An area of low pressure that could push inland on Halloween itself, bringing scattered rain and storms, with the potential for flash flooding.

Temperatures could also be cooler than average in cities such as Los Angeles, where conditions are expected to hover in the low to mid 70s.

Northwest

In the Northwest, things are looking cool and dry, with temperatures in the mid-50s, but could dip lower than that.

Trick-or-treaters are likely to need an extra layer before hitting the streets.
