These homeowners got a whole lot more house than they bargained for.
A woman in the United Kingdom has found some shocking surprises while renovating her house — including a secret shower behind a wall.
Hannah Otto has been in the process of updating her home in Hampshire for three years.
“It was dated but livable on the surface, but as the months have gone on, things have started breaking or appearing not as they seemed at first,” the 32-year-old told Jam Press. “So it’s been a slow journey of improving and correcting areas of the house.”
The mom-of-three was floored by all the weird things she found while redoing her home, but the secret shower had to be the weirdest of them all, she revealed.
“For instance tile laid on top of tile in the kitchen floor, and in the living room we have wood flooring laid on top of carpet,” she shared.
Otto has been sharing her D.I.Y. renovations with her 42,900 TikTok followers on her account @theottohouse.
In a recent video with 13.8 million views as of Tuesday morning, Otto can be seen removing the tiles from the bathroom to figure out why the shower was leaking — only to discover there was another shower behind it.
The TikTok shows Otto removing the tile and wood from the bathroom wall just to uncover more tile, eventually revealing that there was a whole shower behind the existing shower.
Viewers were shocked to see what Otto had discovered:
“This feels like a start of a horror film.”
“In thirty years of renovations, I’ve never seen anything like this.”
“It’s like inception but for bathrooms.”
“Keep going… you’ll eventually have a 4 bedroom 3 bath.”
“Di[d]……did they just slap a new layer on every time it leaked,” one questioned.
“I have no idea,” Otto responded to the queries from TikTok users. “Our whole house is just layers upon layers though. By the time we’re done our house will be twice the size.”
She replied to another comment, adding, “It’s not abnormal for this house. We have wooden floorboards on top of carpet, light switches sideways, tile directly on top of tile in the kitchen.”
Renovations will continue for Otto and her family — who are anticipating more surprises along the way.
“We’re about halfway through the renovation, so we will be busy with it for a few more years at least,” she shared.
