It was a classy proposal.
A Southern California teacher has gone viral after revealing that he was asked to officiate the wedding of two students he sat next to each other during their time in his class.
Kevin McClintock, who works at a private Christian school called The Rock Academy, shared his heart-warming story on TikTok Friday which has since gained nearly 33 million views.
“I bet you never realized that seating charts could change the course of your whole life,” reads the video’s caption.
In the video — which is set to “Tonight Tonight” by Hot Chelle Rae — McClintock explains how his students, who were not identified, started chatting after he sat them together in class.
“You sit two students together and they ‘talk’,” reads the in-video caption.
The teacher continued to reveal that he noticed how both students kept talking after class and into the next day.
“Years after graduation, they come back to visit you,” reads one of the final slides. “And ask you to officiate their wedding.”
McClintock went initially went viral in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to create “wholesome” content to connect with his students.
The Post reached out to McClintock for comment.
Several Tiktok users went wild over the love story.
“Main Job: teacher. Sideline: Cupid,” laughed one user to which McClintock responded cheekily he has to pay the bills somehow.
“Oh that’s so sweet this is why I wanna be a teacher,” gushed a second person.
“When I was a teacher I would always play Cupid with the seating arrangement,” explained a third person.
Other commenters revealed that they also married the person that sat next to them in class.
“Our 8th-grade social studies teacher still barely believes that we ended up together,” said one viewer. “We’re married with a toddler now.”
“My new teacher sat me next to the class clown bc he would ‘pay attention better’ 4 years later & 3 kids here we are,” gushed a second viewer. “He wanted to impress me.”
“That’s how I met my husband,” recalled a third person.”We were forced to be partners in AP Chem. Both knew the teacher very well separately. He came to our wedding.”
Despite many of his commenters finding their happy ending, some users said that the seating assignment would have been awkward if the couple had broken up … which happened to one user.
“My teacher put us together and we started dating and NOW WE’RE BROKEN UP,” testified one viewer. “AND SHE HASN’T CHANGED THE SEATING!”
