Sex sells — but celibacy pays.
An Australian man says he managed to become a millionaire in 18 months after giving up sex to focus on getting rich.
Somesh Kay, 24, says he was previously a sex addict, engaging in intercourse up to five times a day.
But in November 2018, the stock trader decided to quit kink cold turkey, inspired by a self-help book published way back in 1937.
“I took the break from sex to focus on my business after reading ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill,” Kay explained in an interview with Kennedy News. “The last chapter is about channeling your sexual energy.”
“He [Hill] mentions something about ‘If you’re addicted to sex you’ll never be able to grow and do something with your life,’” he continued. “The book was written about 100 years ago so I thought ‘It’s worked for the last 100 years for all these people, it has to work.’”
At the time, Kay had recently relocated from India to Australia and decided to implement new behavior in a new country.
“In India, I was having sex five times a day,” the furious fornicator stated. “I was addicted to sex, I had too much energy.”
After giving up getting it on, a cash-strapped Kay — who says he was briefly homeless after spending all of his money on a visa to stay Down Under — used free books and shopping mall Wi-fi to study day trading.
“At this stage, I had nothing to lose, I was in a new country, I didn’t have much money and I didn’t speak English,” he declared.
“I just locked myself up in my room every day after I finished work and just hustled for eight hours every day and studied.”
Without sex to sidetrack him, a hyper-focused Kay quickly armed himself with knowledge.
“Everything I read said ‘When others are scared that’s when you buy, when they’re greedy that’s when you sell,’” he claimed.
In early 2020, nervous investors started selling off their stock amid the impending Covid pandemic — and Kay pounced.
It was shrewd investments during that period that helped boost his bank balance.
“I went into 2020 just a regular dude and I finished 2020 at about $1.3 million,” Kay enthused.
Partway through that year, Kay decided to break his vow of celibacy after meeting a woman named Holly, who is now his wife.
In addition to helping him get rich, the Indian expat said celibacy helped him realize the value of hard work and where you put your energy.
“Everyone wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die,” Kay stated. “That phrase changed the way I looked at stuff. Everyone wants money, to live in a good house, but no one wants to put in the work.”
“If you want to go to heaven you have to be willing to die for it,” he added. “Also, don’t have sex so you can focus on work.”
