When Jamie Erdahl stepped away from hosting “Good Morning Football” in March, she said it was due to a “tragic health situation” of an immediate family member.
On Thursday morning, the NFL Network star announced on social media that she was absent from the show because her father, Gary Erdahl, had passed away.
Erdahl wrote that three days after the Super Bowl ended, Gary was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
“I loved him with my whole heart,” Jamie wrote on her post. “He was so bright, social, kind, inclusive, generous, wise. I watched him make everyone’s world better. He made mine great. I’ll love you forever, Dad. SKOL”
Erdahl’s post on X featured a picture of her and her father wearing Minnesota Vikings merchandise at SOFI Stadium, just before they were set to play the Los Angeles Chargers.
After she announced that her father had passed away, some of her colleagues from the NFL Network commented on the post to share their condolences.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero wrote, “Prayers to you and your family, Jamie.”
Mike Garafolo also commented, “So sorry, Jamie. Know it was hard for you and your family. Wishing you all comfort. My condolences.”
When Erdahl stepped away from “GMFB” last March, she thanked the NFL Network for allowing her to leave the show to be with her family in a social media post.
“I want to thank my readers at the NFL for allowing me this time at home. I’ll be back on Monday,” Erdahl wrote.
Erdahl has been with the NFL Network since 2022, as she took over as a host of “GMFB” when Kay Adams departed from the NFL Network.
In 2024, the show took a hiatus as they were relocating across the country from New York to Los Angeles.
Since the show relaunched last July, it features Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Sherree Burruss and former NFL player Manti Te’o as hosts.
