‘Keeps getting worse’: Wedding guest’s cringeworthy speech draws Michael Scott comparisons

They had something blue — but needed something cringy.

A woman has gone viral after delivering a very awkward speech at her friend’s wedding in late October.

The TikTok — which has since gained nearly 11 million views — was posted by the groom’s sister, Tori, and shows the speech going from zero to uncomfortable very quickly.

“CRINGE WARNING,” reads the caption on the video. “So my brother got married this past weekend and this was one of the speeches from friends.”

“Think miss girl was nervous but wheeww had a few of us like [several nervous emojis].”

The woman — who identified herself as Shannon and a friend of the bride — says she has known the bride for several years but doesn’t really know the groom though she has heard a lot about him.

“You better take care of my girl because if you don’t, I know where you live,” said Shannon prompting a bit of laughter from the crowd.

After that, things begin to go downhill.

“You’re a part of the family, I swear to God. Like, I’m not going to be racist, you guys, I’m just sayin,” rambled Shannon.

“I’m gonna be racist, OK,” said Shannon before saying that mixed-race couples are “outstepping the stereotype and I love it.”

Several TikTok users were also very quick to comment on the uncomfortable speech, with many likening her tirade to “The Office” character Michael Scott.

“Whoever started clapping = hero. I mean, that had to end. Brutal,” commented one user.

“Oh. My. God,” another person said, while someone else said, “Keeps getting worse.”

‘WHATTTTTTT this is like watching stand up on an open mic night,” chimed in a third.

Some users actually questioned the bride’s judgment on letting Shannon speak.

“But what kind of a person even has a friend like this? Now I’m questioning the bride,” said one person. “And because I question the bride, I question the groom too.”

“Did the bride not have any other friends,” questioned another.

Tori managed to clear the air in the comments by stating that despite the cringy speech, the wedding did go on.

“Y’all the wedding still went on and it was a great time,” commented Tori.

In an effort to prove this, Tori uploaded a follow-up video of another speech that showed another of the bride’s friends giving a heartwarming speech.

“There are so many things I love about you,” the second speaker said. “You are kind and selfless and always there for your friends.”
