Kendrick Perkins convinced we got first ‘real big clue’ of LeBron James’ free agency

Kendrick Perkins doesn’t believe it was a meaningless mistake.

ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins said on “First Take” that the Miami Heat uploading a video on Tuesday night titled “LeBron James Introductory press conference” was no accident.

“Those things don’t just happen under Pat Riley’s watch,” Perkins said. “… This means that Miami is really in the hunt. They’re in the thick of this. LeBron James could possibly end up back in South Beach.”

Perkins went on to say that this was the “first real big clue” of the offseason from an organization that James has interest in.

On Wednesday morning, the Miami Herald reported that the deleted video, scheduled to air on Monday, July 27th, was accidentally uploaded by the Heat’s social media department as they were preparing for the possibility of James rejoining the team.

From 2010-2014, James was the face of the Miami franchise and led them to two NBA championships, where he was crowned Finals MVP and League MVP in 2012 and 2013.

After an NBA Finals loss to the San Antonio Spurs in 2014, James departed from the team and signed with his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Heat president of basketball operations Pat Riley admitted that he was disappointed with James’ decision to leave, as he believed the team was on the verge of becoming a dynasty. Riley said he still enjoys seeing James around, which has sparked rumors of him rejoining the team.

It’s been three weeks since James informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he would not be returning next season, and the pressure of choosing his next team has been starting to build up.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has urged James to make his decision soon so that the league can finish making next season’s schedule.

On Monday night, James’ agent and long-time friend Rich Paul said that James will be taking his time to make a decision, as the four-time MVP still doesn’t know where he wants to go.
