My ear felt scratchy — I found a spider’s nest inside and then threw up

What’s worse than having a spider in your ear?

How about a whole nest of them?

A UK mom realized every arachnophobe’s worst nightmare after discovering an apparent spider nursery inside her ear canal, as seen in spine-tingling viral footage.

“I was very confused as to how it even got in there,” Lucy Wild, 29, told South West News Service of being colonized by a brood of eight-legged freaks.

The Cheshire-based mother of three first felt something was awry after waking up to a “crackling” sound in her “scratchy” ear one day in mid-October.

Initially thinking it was a bit of loose wax, the part-time teacher and content creator grew alarmed when the feeling persisted throughout the day.

So she decided to investigate the sensation using a Smartbud, an electronic ear-cleaning device that’s outfitted with a camera like a high-tech Q-tip.

That’s when she made a horrifying discovery — a spider had infiltrated her ear, SWNS reported.

“I was flapping around trying to get it out. We called 111 [the UK emergency number] and put warm olive oil in my ear and drew it out,” Wild recalled. “It was covered in oil and the size of about my baby fingernail — about 1 centimeter.

Despite successfully removing the arachnological interloper, the Brit said her ear was bleeding and she couldn’t hear properly.

Wild reported to the doctor’s office, where medics prescribed her a week’s course of antibiotics. She was shaken but believed her problem was in the rearview mirror.

“He [the ENT doctor] said, ‘Yes, it is a spider’s nest. you’ll have to deal with the pain because I need to get this out of your ear,’” Wild recalled. Lucy Wild / SWNS

Unfortunately, like a false climax in a horror movie, that was only the tip of the iceberg.

A little while later, Wild started experiencing ear pain again, prompting her to reexamine the ear canal with her Smartbud. The patient discovered a sinister-looking black mass blanketing the inside of her ear, which she analogized to the upside-down realm from the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things.”

Wild initially didn’t know what to make of the substance, speculating that it could have been a cut or another, even bigger spider.

Wild reported to a hospital’s ear, nose and throat department, where doctors gave her an even more horrifying diagnosis.

“He said, ‘Yes, it is a spider’s nest,’” she recounted, adding that the doctor had never encountered something like it before. Wild said her partner had speculated as much but thought he was just pulling her leg.

Needless to say, Wild was not thrilled that an arachnid had used her ear as an incubation chamber.

“How does a spider get in your ear and you not know about it?” the distraught patient asked.

Evicting the eight-legged squatters required doctors to suction the inside of her ear — a process Wild described as the “most excruciating pain” she’d ever felt.

“I actually vomited while he was doing the procedure — it was that painful,” she recalled. “I’d rather go through childbirth or a c-section again.”

And while the procedure appeared to be successful, Wild still believes there might be some horrifying stragglers.

“I was petrified thinking there might be another one,” described the ear-rachnophobe, who had another look when she went home but didn’t find anything.

However, spider experts weren’t sure whether the black mass was actually a spider nest.

“Everything is so blurred, I really couldn’t say,” said a spokesperson for the British Arachnological Society. “While some structures could be legs that’s as far as I am prepared to go.”

Either way, Wild views her saga as a reason why people should invest in a Smartbud.

“You need to know what’s going on in your ears,” she warned.

The Brit’s ordeal seems like a shudder-worthy sequel to a host of previous instances, in which terrified parties found a single spider in their hearing passages.
