My rugby boyfriend claimed he was hurt — turns out it was part of a much bigger plan

This proposal really tackled the internet.

A rugby player and his girlfriend went viral after the player faked a leg injury to make the memorable proposal.

The entire proposal — which was posted on Tiktok and racked up nearly 451,000 views — shows 30-year-old Chris Robinson being tackled to the ground before seemingly rolling around in pain.

Robinson’s girlfriend, Amanda Tuckwell, is then seen attempting to administer first aid to the rugby player.

It was then Robinson got down on one knee and popped the question to a stunned Tuckwell.

“I thought he’d broken his leg! I was very shocked,” said the 43-year-old to South Western News Service. “When they call you over, that doesn’t usually happen unless someone is seriously injured.”

“When he got up I thought he must have been in shock but then he got on one knee. I was very, very surprised,” gushed Tuckwell.

According to Robinson, he had been planning this moment for nearly two months.

“Amanda knew something was coming and I wanted to do it in a way she wouldn’t expect,” said the teacher. “If I’d booked a trip somewhere she would have guessed what was going on.”

Tuckwell agreed with the statement.

“I usually know what Chris is going to do before he does, so it had to be something different. I was very shocked,” laughed the 43-year-old.

Robinson also admitted he hadn’t told the other team what was going on and feared their reaction.

“I was a bit nervous. I was worried about what the other team would say but we were winning comfortably so it wasn’t a close game,” admitted Robinson. “I wouldn’t have done it otherwise!”

The happy couple — who met on Bumble — say that they play to have a low-key wedding and a big party with friends and family so they can save money to buy a house.

Several people on Tiktok were swooning at the proposal.

“If he doesn’t propose to me like this its a no,” joked one user.

“If you don’t propose like this, I don’t want it,” said another.

“I think my standards have rose,” stated a third.

Others however thought the proposal was “awkward.”

“I’d die. That’s so awkward,” one person said.

“Scrum to the other team for wasting time,” said a second person.

“Mate, I would be so mad. I just wanna play the game,” slammed a third person.
