It’s a Crimson Tide love story.
Nate Oats, Alabama men’s basketball’s head coach, and Alex Accetta, a 31-year-old former Alabama staffer who worked as the team’s director of operations, got married last weekend.
Alabama assistant coach Brian Adams shared photos from the wedding on social media, which showed a group that included Alabama athletics director Greg Byrne and other UA staffers, past and present.
The 51-year-old Oats revealed he got engaged to Accetta in April.
While discussing Alabama’s upcoming series with St. John’s on a Sirius XM radio show, Oats called Accetta his fiancée and recalled a past Knicks playoff game that they attended at Madison Square Garden.
Oats’ new marriage comes after he quietly divorced his previous wife, Crystal Oats, in 2023.
Crystal and Oats married in 1997 and remained together for 26 years. They share three daughters, Lexie, Jocelyn and Brielle.
Crystal was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma in 2015 before going into remission.
Accetta left Alabama to join the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks in guest experience and operations roles, while Oats remains busy keeping Alabama a hoops powerhouse.
Oats, who began his stint as Alabama’s head coach in 2019-20, has a 170-73 record across seven years at the helm.
Outside of Oats’ first season, where the team went 16-15, Alabama has made the NCAA Tournament every year under him, including a Final Four appearance in 2024.
As of 2026, Oats’ 13 NCAA Tournament wins are the most by a coach in school history.
Oats has helped multiple Alabama stars turn into NBA draft picks, such as current Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller, who went second overall in 2023.
