Hentai, hawk tuah and tradwives — oh my.
Pornhub is pulling back the covers on X-rated viewing habits around the world, unveiling its most popular search terms for 2024, including one kink dubbed “less complicated” by an expert.
The company released the dirty data on Tuesday, revealing that “hentai” was the most-searched word on the planet, ahead of “MILF,” “lesbian” and “anal.”
Hentai — a type of Japanese anime characterized by explicit characters and plots — proved particularly popular in the US, taking the top spot for the first time.
But it appears amorous Americans aren’t alone in being aroused by the kinky cartoon category, which was also the most searched term in Brazil and war-torn Ukraine.
“MILF,” meanwhile, was the most popular search term in a host of other naughty nations, including the UK, Canada and Spain.
Elsewhere, Pornhub also noticed a surge in searches for “tradwives,” which rose 72% around the world.
“Tradwife” — short for a “traditional wife” — refers to a woman who has proudly eschewed a career in favor of domestic duties, such as cooking, cleaning, and child-rearing.
Such women, who are typically submissive and aim to cater to their husband’s every whim, have gained increasing popularity in mainstream discourse thanks to TikTok videos about the phenomenon.
The rise in tradwife searches interestingly coincided with an uptick in interest in videos pertaining to anything “demure,” which surged 133% in the wake of another viral TikTok about being “demure and mindful.”
Meanwhile, searches for “modesty” increased 77%, while the term “modest milf” was up 45%.
Dr. Laurie Betito, who serves as the director of Pornhub’s Sexual Wellness Center, said of the trend: “It seems people may be pining for a simpler time – looking for things that are less complicated and maybe seeking out more meaningful experiences.”
However, “hawk tuah” — an explicit term relating to a sex act that’s far from demure, mindful or modest — also saw significant gains in searches.
The onomatopoeic word was popularized by Hayley Welch during an interview on the streets of Nashville earlier this year.
Elsewhere, Pornhub also revealed that Aussie Angela White was the most searched porn star in the world, followed by Abella Danger and Violet Myers.
Meanwhile, the frisky data also unveiled that women may enjoy watching gay porn.
Gay pornstar Dom King was searched 468% more by women than by men.
Alex Mecum and Diego Sans, who also make same-sex porn, were similarly far more popular with members of the fairer sex.
