The Denver Broncos secured a 17-14 overtime win against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football. But Broncos head coach Sean Payton is still on the hot seat for another reason.
Before Thursday’s game kicked off, Payton was seen planting a kiss on NFL reporter Charissa Thompson’s cheek on the sidelines. It appeared to have come either before or after the two did a brief interview together, as a cordial goodbye or a greeting.
A video clip of this exchange has gone viral on social media, with the @MLFootball X account tallying over 500,000 views after posting it.
Many commenters are saying that there isn’t anything out of the ordinary. It’s totally normal for adults to greet each other with a kiss on the cheek, and that’s exactly what looked to have happened here between Payton and Thompson.
Payton has been married to Skylene Montgomery since 2021, while Thompson is in a relationship with businessman Steven Cundari, whom she has been dating since July 2022.
Thompson and Cundari were spotted together at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding back in July, as Thompson and Swift have built a strong relationship with each other.
Broncos fans certainly care more about their team’s on-field product than any pregame greetings that their head coach is doing.
And these fans have got to be feeling good about a win against the defending Super Bowl champions on Thursday night.
