She brought the West End to the Upper West Side.
“Stranger Things” superstar Millie Bobby Brown surprised a crew of lucky second graders with an acting lesson that not even the little students could believe.
“The ‘Stranger Things’ main character, I saw her in person today. I know that she’s not real … right?” one boy named Prince questioned after his once-in-a-lifetime class.
Brown swung by PS 84 as part of the hit web series, Celebrity Substitute, which has superstars playing teachers on skills like music video filming and developing a fashion sense.
The ten students had no idea they would be meeting the “Enora Holms” star – and erupted in screams when they walked through the door to find her near the stage.
“Hi Ms. Millie!” the children roared.
The actress, 22, began her lesson by asking the youth if they knew the basic jargon that is used on an acting set.
Cycling through terminology would take a twist as Bobby Brown’s English accent made it difficult for the young actors to understand.
“She’s so British I can smell her accent,” quipped little Harley, who has a few paid acting gigs under her belt, and offered her own advice to the movie star.
The small star described her knowledge of acting as pretending to do something rather than actually doing it, as she followed up with an impromptu demonstration of how to “fake” riding a rollercoaster.
Brown taught the class improv, scene building, and offered pointers on how to show more emotion.
Volunteers came up and gave hysterical facial expressions as the English actress hid her smile behind her clipboard.
But the nosy kids seemed more interested in Brown’s marriage to Jake Bongiovi, the son of music legend Jon Bon Jovi.
When asked why one would like to be happily married in the future, a rowdy red-haired child named Joseph exclaimed, “I want to be married because I want to have someone I can hang out with all the time!”
The star’s visit wasn’t the only jaw-dropping surprise – the children’s eyes filled with glee when brand new stage equipment for the students’ drama department was rolled into the room.
The school was gifted by Amazon rehearsal mirrors, sets, costumes, lights, and other filming equipment.
A few teachers came out at the end of the lesson as their hearts welled with joy at being able to witness the happiness on the faces of the kids enjoying the brand new equipment.
”They’ve been working so hard, so they deserve this. This is for them,” Ms. Toni Ann, one of the teachers, said.
