The Strokes are making “Bad Good Decisions.”
Julian Casablancas’ iconic ’00s group just announced they’ll plays venues all over the globe on their 2026 ‘Reality Awaits Tour’ in support of their forthcoming seventh studio album with the same name, which hits shelves on June 26.
And, while the Grammy winners won’t hit their native New York on this run, they’ll get close to the Big Apple when they headline at Philadelphia’s TD Pavilion at The Mann on Friday, June 26 and Asbury Park’s annual Sea.Hear.Now Festival on Sunday, Sept. 20.
Big-name special guests joining them on select dates of the international run include Cage The Elephant, Thundercat, Hamilton Leithauser, Fat White Family and Alex Cameron.
Ahead of the tour announcement, the “Reptilia” rockers headlined the first weekend of the Coachella Music and Arts Festival.
According to Set List FM, the quintet performed 15 songs including fan favorites “Last Nite,” “What Ever Happened?,” “Someday,” and, of course, “Bad Decisions” and “Reptilia.”
They also unleashed “Going Shopping,” the lead single off “Reality Awaits.”
“[Casablancas, Hammond Jr., Moretti, Valensi and Fraiture] made a thunderous return to the Coachella Stage on Saturday, delivering a set so massive it seemingly pushed the festival’s sound system to its absolute limit,” Digital Noise Mag reported.
“Despite several brief, momentary audio cutouts, the sheer volume and energy of the performance solidified it as a definitive highlight of the weekend. The band utilized a hypnotic barrage of lasers and nostalgic visual tributes to their hometown of New York City to create a spectacle that matched the intensity of their hits.”

The Strokes new music
Ahead of the release of “Reality Awaits,” The Strokes dropped the lead single “Going Shopping.”
The tropicalia-tinged tune feels like The Strokes in a minor key. A chilled-out but unmistakably Strokes-ian groove, Julian doing his auto-tuned Voidz thing…until the minute mark.
All of a sudden, the BPMs kick up a notch and a Dire Straits-esque sound pop and take the single to the next level. Catchy, fun, offbeat, this is summer music at its absolute best. Blast this one by the pool.
If you’d like to hear for yourself, you can find “Going Shopping” here.
