There’s no wrong way to eat a Reese’s.
Reese’s has launched the Deconstructed Peanut Butter Cup Kit to allow fans to fill a huge chocolate shell with as much or as little peanut butter as they wish.
The limited-time offering features a giant 9-ounce milk chocolate shell and lid, plus a 10-ounce jar of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup filling.
“We know how personal your ideal chocolate to peanut butter ratio is. So, go ahead, amp up the peanut butter or tone it down – we won’t judge,” Reese’s said in an email announcing the new kit, per Food Network. “You’re welcome.”
Hershey’s dropped the oversized cup on Nov. 4, National Candy Day, for $29.99 — and they “sold out in record time.”
Though the company said the product would only be available “while supplies last,” the website now says that due to “overwhelming interest,” they might bring it back “sooner rather than later.”
Reese’s was inspired to create the kit by a post on Reddit where the user shared in the sub-Reddit page r/mildlyinteresting that his entire pack of five Reese’s came without peanut butter in the cups.
The photo in the post showed that each of the five Reese’s had a bite taken out of it to show that they did indeed lack the peanut butter filling.
The post quickly went viral and has garnered 101,000 upvotes and 4,100 comments so far.
“My villain origin story,” one person joked.
“Somewhere, someone has a pack that is all peanut butter. You must find your soulmate!” another wrote.
The user said in the comments that after contacting the candy brand, they sent him a coupon to make up for it. It also resulted in the creation of the kit.
